Chelsea Verbeek, BSc Registered Dietitian (Virtual Services)

Registered Dietitian, Former Competitive Ringette Athlete

Specialty Areas: sports nutrition, weight management, cardiovascular disease management, and children with picky eating

My name is Chelsea Verbeek and I am a Registered Dietitian. I am excited to be a part of the Eatuitive Nutrition team!

I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2019 where I received a national award for my research project on omega-3 fatty acid intake and it’s role in reducing breast cancer risk. Aside from my interest in research, I am a sports enthusiast and love experiencing the dynamic cultures this world has to offer.

I have fallen in love with a variety of cuisines, whether it was while I was taking a tuk-tuk in India to try rocket hot South Indian Style cuisine, accidentally confusing vegemite rolls for cinnamon rolls in Australia, or admiring how much love the family from Mexico poured into making our humanitarian team tripe soup.

Food is a way of life that expresses beautiful creativity in shaping cultures and bringing people together. With that, I believe every food fits but sometimes there needs to be adjustments in our diet for food to serve our lives and bodies best.

Overall, I am a strong believer in the importance of nutrition and have a passion to help people achieve long term sustainable health goals through nutrition.

My interest in sports nutrition began as a teen where I played competitive ringette and tangibly witnessed the powerful impact nutrition has on athletic performance. Whether you are a beginner, a multi-day hiker or play competitive sports, balanced nutrition can increase athletic performance.

By encountering the power nutrition has on the body in athletes, I discovered and developed a passion for chronic disease management through nutrition as well. Some areas nutrition can make long term impacts are by impacting body composition changes, regulating blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

I also have pediatric nutrition experience – I have worked with families of children with picky eating by guiding them through this challenging period through evidence-based practice. I work with parents to ensure proper nutrition and growth despite picky eating habits children so often display.

Overall, my main interests in nutrition are sports nutrition, weight management, cardiovascular disease management, and children with picky eating. At Eatuitive Nutrition, I aspire to provide individualized nutrition counseling that suites your lifestyle and needs. I want to work together towards your health goals. I look forward to meeting you.

Al-Mahdi Goolamalee, MSc Sports and Exercise Science (In-Person Testing & Virtual Services)

Fitness Advisor

Specialty Areas: sports nutrition, sport psychology, weight management

My name is Al-Mahdi Goolamallee, I am a Master’s graduate from University of Essex in the UK, specializing in Sport and Exercise Science. I am excited to join the Eatuitive Nutrition team and learn from other passionate people in the industry.

Behind every successful individual who begins their fitness journey lies motivation for growth, development, and betterment. The power of the mind that allows people to push themselves beyond their limits, to continue when challenged, and to grow from hardship is something which never ceases to amaze me.

As you can tell, I am fascinated by the power of psychology in Sport and Exercise, from the root thoughts behind motivation to the sheer willpower at the point of adversity or challenges. I truly believe the mind is the true master of the body.

Through my studies in Sport and Exercise Science, I gained knowledge in numerous aspects of fitness, from anatomy and physiology, assessment of athletes, training techniques, applied sport psychology, biomechanics and nutrition. This knowledge allowed me to rebuild my body by helping me overcome an injury sustained to my lower back. It also allowed me to build muscle and lose weight without compromising my energy levels.

I have also used my knowledge and experience to motivate and train my friends and family. I created and worked with them to develop personalized workout plans, stretching and mobility routines and nutrition advice to help them stay healthy and achieve their well-being and fitness goals.

In the UK, I worked for a company called Fitmedia. My core responsibilities was to educate students and teachers on fitness research that would promote children’s physical literacy and fitness. I assessed the children’s fitness level using various testing methods which I then compiled into data to return to the school which was used to track their development over the year. I was also involved in educating practitioners within schools on how to maximize children’s potential in physical education  classes.

My work at Fitmedia and helping friends and family with their fitness journey, helped me come to the conclusion that I genuinely enjoy helping others realize their own potential. Often someone doesn’t know what they may be capable of and helping others understand and utilize the great potential which lies within themselves is something very important for a trainer.

I moved to Calagry two years ago and have made this beautiful city my home. When I am not working, I enjoy working out whether that be in the gym or outside in the park, exploring Calgary, going on hikes with my wife and her family in the Rocky Mountains, playing soccer and tennis and cycling through the city.

At Eatuitive Nutrition, I aim to help people change their lives in the simplest and most realistic way possible. Everyone deserves to be happy and feel good about themselves inside and out.

So, let’s strive together to ensure that you become the best version of yourself.
