Quick Re-Test: 10 minutes for body composition check-ins to track progress.
Full Follow-Up: 30 minutes with body composition for re-testing plus strategy adjustments with your dietitian.
Meal plans available as add-ons: $30/mo for DIY or $100/mo if combined with monthly check-ins
Metabolism & Body Composition Testing
$240 | 1 hour
Your first session will be an in-person baseline testing session which includes both Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) and Body Composition testing to give you a clear picture of how your body works - how much energy you burn at rest and what your body is made of. This data forms the foundation of your personalized nutrition strategy.
From here, we build on that foundation with a comprehensive nutrition assessment in your follow-up session. That’s where we dive deeper into your current habits, goals, and lifestyle to design a plan that’s targeted, sustainable, and results-driven.
What you get
Resting Metabolic Rate Testing:
A 10-minute breath test measures your exact calorie burn at rest.
We use indirect calorimetry—the gold standard for metabolic testing.
Same-day results interpretation by a registered dietitian
Understanding of why previous approaches haven't worked
Baseline data to track metabolic changes over time
Body Composition Testing:
The InBody scan breaks down your muscle mass and body fat in under a minute.
Same lab-grade technology with 0.99 to DEXA scan.Lean muscle mass by body segment
Body fat percentage and distribution
Visceral fat level
Total body water and balance
Protein requirements based on your lean mass
This data determines your exact protein targets—typically one gram per pound of lean body mass—and helps track real changes beyond the scale.
How to prepare
Overnight fast (12 hours) - RMR test only
No caffeine morning of test - RMR test only, limit for InBody
No exercise morning of test - RMR test only, limit for InBody
Wear lightweight, comfortable clothing
These requirements ensure accurate results by minimizing variables.
Why our testing is different
Lab-Grade Accuracy
We use indirect calorimetry for metabolic testing—the most accurate method available outside of research labs. Not online calculators. Not fitness tracker estimates. Direct measurement of your metabolism.
Other practitioners use basic weight scales, generic formulas or no testing at all. We measure directly using clinical-grade equipment.
Practical for Regular Tracking
Our combination of RMR and InBody testing gives you clinically relevant data at a practical price.
Ideal for tracking progress every 3-6 months.
Expert Interpretation
Every test includes same-day interpretation by a registered dietitian.
We don't just hand you numbers—we explain what they mean for your specific goals and translate them into actionable nutrition strategies.
Meet your testing team
All testing is conducted and interpreted by registered dietitians—credentialed healthcare professionals with extensive training in metabolism, body composition analysis, and performance nutrition.
Not all nutrition professionals are created equal.
Anyone can call themselves a "nutritionist" or "nutrition coach," but only registered dietitians have the clinical education and supervised practice required to interpret metabolic testing and build evidence-based strategies.
Our dietitians specialize in translating test results into strategic nutrition plans for high-performing professionals—whether you're training for performance, optimizing body composition, or managing health conditions.
Use your insurance benefits
Many extended health care plans and health spending accounts cover Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist services. All services are provided by Registered Dietitians and are eligible for reimbursement if your plan includes dietitian or nutritionist coverage.
Do you provide insurance receipts?
Insurance receipts are available upon request. For packages, full payment is made upfront, and individual receipts are issued after each session. Receipts can then be submitted to your provider for reimbursement.
Are dietitian services tax-deductible?
Dietitian services may also be claimed as a tax-deductible medical expense on your income tax return.
Pro Tip:
While we are unable to check coverage on your behalf, by going online to your health insurance company website, you will often find the coverage listed under paramedical services.
-
Absolutely. Many plateaus happen because actual calorie needs don't match calculator estimates. Testing reveals your exact needs, helping you break through stalls with precision rather than guessing.
-
You'll sit comfortably and breathe normally into a mouthpiece for 10-20 minutes. It's completely non-invasive. After your test, your dietitian reviews results with you immediately and answers all questions.
-
InBody 270 provides research-grade accuracy for tracking body composition changes. Another common tool in the industry is DEXA (or DXA). According to this study, there are no statistically significant differences between the InBody 270 and DXA for any measure of body composition. This means both tools are comparable in accuracy.
-
Yes. Eating before your test affects metabolic rate and can skew results by 10-20%. Fasting ensures we're measuring your true resting metabolism, not digestion.
-
Your resting metabolic rate (RMR) shows calories burned at rest. Add activity and exercise on top of that for your total daily needs. Most people are surprised by their actual numbers because it’s often higher or lower than calculators suggest.
-
Building lean muscle mass increases your resting metabolic rate. Our body composition analysis shows your current muscle mass, and follow-up testing tracks increases. We also identify if you're undereating, which can slow metabolism over time.
-
For body comp - monthly to quarterly
For RMR - every 6 months or so (see here)
Most clients retest every 3-6 months to track progress. If you're making significant body composition changes, quarterly testing helps you adjust your strategy based on real data.
-
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is measured in lab-controlled conditions after overnight sleep in a facility. Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) is measured at rest in normal conditions and is slightly higher. RMR is more practical and clinically relevant for real-world applications.
As you can see, the difference between BMR and RMR is more of a technicality. All you need to know is that your RMR gives a picture of how much you burn at rest.
-
That's common. Generic formulas use population averages. Your metabolism is unique to you. That's exactly why we test—to get YOUR number, not an estimate.
-
Every test includes interpretation by a registered dietitian. Our packages include interpretation during the same session as your test. We explain what your numbers mean, how they relate to your goals, and what specific actions to take next.
-
Absolutely! We’ll book you both into the same time slot and add 1.5h to your session. We’ll manually add the second person once you’ve booked. Please contact us via email or text (preferred) so we update and extend the session! (It’s not enough that you fill out the form—you also need to confirm with us.) Your session time will be extended so start time might shift.
For nutrition assessments, you’re welcome to sit in on each other’s session but we’ll focus on one person at a time for the best results.
